The marketing music project we will be doing in my Media class seems really interesting. We started by planning what our video would look like. Brainstorming was the first step. We had to read the lyrics of the song to get a better understanding of it after listening to it so we could get a good idea for what our video would look like. While reading the lyrics we realized we could do a great video with the song we chose, it gave us a lot of creativity. My teammates and I discussed what we would like to incorporate in our video before we wrote down for sure what we were going to do.
My teammates had different ideas than I did, they wanted to make the story different from what I had expected so we had to discuss and be clear about our ideas before we decided what our final result was going to be. After we decided on what we were going to focus our music video on, we decided to start planning our scenes so we could have a better picture of the video in our heads before moving forward. The song that we chose for our project is about love, a complicated love. We decided that we will be creating a love relationship, this one would be different though. The women has power in the relationship and things take a turn, the guy feels like she doesn't love him and he starts to get desperate.
We discussed our costumes just like the scenes and places where we would record. The costumes that we decided to use in our video are not the ones that we see on a daily basis. We chose to use colorful clothes, glitter and a lot of make-up in the face, black skirts, shirts with bands on them, etc. We wanted to create a look in our characters of this video that would catch the eye of our viewers and that would also relate to our song. Another thing that we decided we would use to film some of our scenes would be a projector, by doing this we can create different backgrounds and make our video more interesting. In our discussion we talked about lighting, angles, backgrounds, shadows, and items we could use in our video that would be more effective and would connect with the song. This is just the start. Later on we will start recording and planning out our video better. The next step is creating our storyboard so we can start viewing our video and start getting a better image of it.
